Finding outdoor locations can be challenging, especially some that seem to be ubiquitous on Instagram. I’ve spent so many hours driving around the cities trying to find the locations with the best light, the most interest, the least amount of people, and the easiest access so all you end up with is beautiful images and no scratches or tick bites! Here are some of my favorite locations based on season!
Long Lake Park—I love this area for Fall. It has such a beautiful variety of trees and grasses that turn so many colors during the Autumn. It’s great for Seniors, family, and I’ve never shot a maternity session there but it would be amazing!
Silver Lake Park—this one is a hidden gem that’s so close to my studio I couldn’t leave it out. I love this park in the Winter because the sun sets right behind the lake and the bare trees make such a pretty Winter-y backdrop. Plus, there’s evergreens and birch trees and long grasses!
Stone Arch—I know, I know, everyone goes to Stone Arch, but sometimes things are popular for a reason! Besides, you can’t beat a skyline at sunset and there’s a killer beach just across the river that’s glorious in the Spring.
Your House—no contest, my favorite Summer location is your house! This is my favorite place for family sessions, because everyone is so relaxed and nothing beats Summer evening light. There’s something sweet about having family photos on your front step isn’t there? Just a nice little reminder of home sweet home.
